About
The 60th Winnipeg is divided into four levels:
The 60th Winnipeg was started in 1927 as the 60th Winnipeg Wolf Cubs. The original
charter was issued to Grace United Church which was located at the corner of Notre
Dame and Ellice. The church had a heavy financial debt and in 1948 the church property
was sold and the members of the church joined with St. Stephens Broadway United.
The 60th Winnipeg Charter was re-activated by returning World War Two veterans under
the sponsorship of the Charleswood Legion. The Legion has continued as our sponsor
until the present. The current group badge featuring the tank that sits in front of the
Charleswood Legion hall was introduced in 1980.
The group has met at Beaumont School since approximately 1959. This is before the
current school building was built in 1966. Aside from approximately 10 years in the late
seventies and early eighties when the group met at the newly built Charleswood Legion
hall, the cubs continued to meet at Beaumont School.
